Amigos Cantina is more than a restaurant—it’s a place where community, flavor, and genuine connection come together. Built on fresh, made-in-house food, a welcoming atmosphere, and heartfelt hospitality, it continues to reflect the spirit of its founder, Andrew Farbman.
The inspiration behind Amigos began years ago when Andrew spent time in Santa Barbara, California, where he discovered not only a love for food but a passion for creating an experience. He brought that vision back to the Lowcountry, opening the first Amigos on Hilton Head Island over 30 years ago, and later expanding to Bluffton.
What makes Amigos truly unique isn’t just the food—it’s the feeling. Everything is prepared fresh, but more importantly, every person who walks through the door is treated like they matter. Because to Andrew, they did.
A Personal Story That Shaped It All
Andrew wasn’t just a business owner—he was the heart of Amigos. Known for his “bubbly” personality and genuine kindness, he had a way of making everyone feel seen. As many have said, he never met a stranger.
One of the most meaningful moments in his life happened during the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head, where he met his wife, Gina. From that day forward, they built not only a life together, but a shared dream—working side by side to grow Amigos into what it is today.
Andrew was a mentor, a friend, and “one of the good guys.” Whether he was giving advice to fellow business owners during tough times like the 2008 recession or simply connecting with customers, his passion was undeniable. You could hear it in the way he talked about food—you could taste it in every dish.
On April 17, 2021, the community lost Andrew in a tragic accident. It was a loss deeply felt across Hilton Head, Bluffton, and beyond.
But even in that heartbreak, something powerful remained—his legacy.
Today, that legacy is carried forward by his wife, Gina Faucette Farbman, and their daughter, Alexis. With strength, love, and determination, they continue to run Amigos Cantina, honoring everything Andrew built.
Andrew believed in something simple but powerful:
“Kindness Matters. People Matter.”
That belief still guides Amigos today.
The restaurant continues to support local foundations, sports, and community efforts—just as Andrew always did. It remains a gathering place where people come not just to eat, but to feel at home.
Outside the restaurant, Andrew loved the simple joys of life—golfing, fishing, spending time with friends, and listening to music, especially Jerry Garcia. Those moments reflect the kind of person he was: easygoing, genuine, and full of life.
The future of Amigos Cantina is rooted in its past. Gina and Alexis are committed to continuing what Andrew started—keeping the food fresh, the atmosphere welcoming, and the values strong. This isn’t just about running a restaurant. It’s about carrying forward a legacy of love, kindness, and community.
Amigo’s Bluffton just celebrated its 25 years in business.
Our “Amigo’s Team” lead by Lisa Lovette, Gina & our amazing ladies Sara & Rosa behind the scenes making everything fresh daily. If we only knew how many of “Andrew’s famous barbecue chicken salads that these ladies have made. Sara has been with us since we opened in 2001.
